Andrews – More than 130,000 Americans traveled to Munich, Germany, last year to participate in the official Oktoberfest.
Happily, Cherokee County residents don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to enjoy the tradition overseas, as the third annual Oktoberfest will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, on Main Street downtown. Patrons are encouraged to wear traditional lederhosen, or dirndl, and capture the celebration via the on-site photo booth.
The third annual Oktoberfest will feature food, beer and wine, with participants allowed to carry open containers in designated areas. Beer and wine will be provided by Andrews Brewing Co., Calaboose Cellars, FernCrest Winery Tasting Room, Hoppy Trout Brewing Co. and Snowbird Mountains Brewery.
The festival will also feature live music from local favorites Scott James Stambaugh, The Nouveaux Honkies and The Blue Revue, featuring Jared Smith. There will be fun activities between the bands, like a best mustache contest, along with a kids zone, Corn Hole for adults and more.
