Murphy – It’s time again for the family and pet friendly annual Spring Festival from noon-8 p.m. Saturday.
The event will start with an opening prayer by pastor Eurial Turner of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Andrews. Then the National Anthem will be sung by Hope Ledford.
Downtown will be busy with locals and visitors alike, as everyone is invited to come out and enjoy everything this year’s event has to offer. The Spring Festival is brought to you every year by the Murphy Business Association.
There will be more than 100 craft and other vendor booths lining both Tennessee Street and Valley River Avenue, which will be closed off to traffic. A plethora of unique and one-of-a-kind items will be on display.
There will be live music throughout the day on two separate stages, with both local and regional bands. Genres include rock ’n’ roll, Southern rock and gospel. The stages are sponsored by Peachtree Broadband Fiber and the Cherokee County Arts Council.
McNabb Properties is sponsoring a Beer & Wine Garden on Tennessee Street. Bracelets are only $5 and will include a beer mug. Proper identification is required.
A $10 bracelet will allow children to bounce away in any of the bounce houses all day. Kids can enjoy carnival-style games, prizes and giveaways at no charge. There will also be a photo booth on site to capture lasting memories.
Try your skill at axe throwing. For $10, you’ll receive a short lesson and five minutes of throw time.
There will be plenty to eat with 15 food trucks on site. There will also be kettle corn, lemonade, shaved ice and more.
With Mother’s Day coming Sunday, there will be wholesale flowers available for sale at the festival. Local shops and dining establishments will also be open Saturday.
Rain date will be Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed that it won’t be needed.
